wait, is this real?

Yes. FlyWire mapped every neuron in a fruit fly brain; Shiu et al. (Nature 2024) turned it into a simulation of all 139,255 neurons. Your post is scanned for engagement bait — "humbled", 🚀, one-line paragraphs, "Agree?", "Let that sink in". Bait is sugar. Sugar goes into the fly's sugar-sensing neurons, the signal runs through the whole brain, and if MN9 (the motor neuron that extends the fly's tongue) fires, the fly wants it. That pathway is a validated result of the paper. The 3D view is the real reconstruction, showing the neurons that actually fired, in spike order. The simulations were run in advance at six sugar levels; your post picks one. Posts are logged, because somebody has to keep a record of the shitposts.
